- Complete Chapters 1-4 of the Season Journey To unlock the Altar of Rites, you will need to complete Chapters 1-4 of the Season Journey. These chapters involve completing specific objectives and tasks, such as reaching level 70 with your seasonal character, completing a Nephalem Rift on Expert difficulty, and defeating the Skeleton King at level 70 in under 30 seconds.
- Obtain the Infernal Machines Once you have completed Chapters 1-4 of the Season Journey, you will need to obtain the Infernal Machines. These are special items that can be used to open portals to various bosses in the game. To obtain the Infernal Machines, you will need to defeat keywardens in each of the game’s four acts. The keywardens can be found in the following locations:
- Act I: Fields of Misery (The Old Tristram Road waypoint)
- Act II: Dahlgur Oasis (The Forgotten Ruins waypoint)
- Act III: Stonefort (The Keep Depths Level 1 waypoint)
- Act IV: Gardens of Hope 2nd Tier (The Silver Spire Level 1 waypoint)
Each keywarden has a chance to drop a specific Infernal Machine, so you may need to defeat them multiple times to obtain all four machines.
- Craft the Infernal Machines Once you have obtained all four Infernal Machines, you will need to craft them into Infernal Machines of War. To do this, you will need to take the machines to the Heretic’s Abode in Act I, and use them to open portals to bosses. Defeat the bosses to obtain the crafting materials needed to craft the Infernal Machines of War.
- Use the Infernal Machines of War Once you have crafted the Infernal Machines of War, you can use them to open portals to the Uber bosses. These bosses are tougher versions of existing bosses in the game, and will drop the components needed to create the Infernal Torch. The Uber bosses can be found in the following locations:
- The Realm of Chaos: Portal opened with the Infernal Machine of War (Act I)
- The Realm of Discord: Portal opened with the Infernal Machine of War (Act II)
- The Realm of Turmoil: Portal opened with the Infernal Machine of War (Act III)
- The Realm of Fright: Portal opened with the Infernal Machine of War (Act IV)
- Craft the Infernal Torch Once you have defeated the Uber bosses and obtained the necessary components, you can use them to craft the Infernal Torch. To do this, take the components to the Heretic’s Abode and use the Blacksmith’s Forge to craft the Infernal Torch.
- Unlock the Altar of Rites Once you have crafted the Infernal Torch, take it to the entrance of the Ruins of Sescheron in Act III, and use it to light the braziers surrounding the Altar of Rites. This will unlock the Altar of Rites and allow you to access its contents.
